German Olympic champion Neuner wins second biathlon World Cup overall title
KHANTY-MANSIYSK, Russia - Magdalena Neuner has won the women's biathlon World Cup overall title for the second time by ending the season with her fifth victory and 13th podium finish.
The German added to her Olympic titles in the pursuit and the mass start on Saturday, overcoming three penalty loops to win the women's 12.5-kilometre mass start race in 36 minutes, 20.0 seconds.
Sandrine Bailly of France missed one target and finished second, 17.2 seconds behind. Olympic sprint champion Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia also skied a penalty loop and was another 6.4 seconds back in third.
Neuner finished with 933 points to beat teammate Simone Hauswald, who had 854. Helena Jonsson of Sweden was third with 813.
