We're introducing a new format for the 5 Hole. Instead of writing and posting just one column per week, we're switching to a daily format that addresses the big, breaking sports news of the day.

Our goal is to have more content for you, the reader, to chew on. And while chewing, please send us your comments and feedback. I promise to run the best of the bunch below each story the day after we receive them. Your comments can be as spiteful, loving or confusing as you like, but note that curse words will be censored and any derogatory comments about the Toronto Maple Leafs will be bolded and underlined. Since not every comment will be posted, do your best to make them count: it's your chance to impress your fellow readers with clever prose and insight (or your cunning wit). And feel free to send personal comments about me, but please remember that my mom loves my dad and you've never slept with her.

Like most residents of Toronto, I am a Leafs fan. But I'm also a realist. The majority of my family members are Montreal Canadien fans, so I usually live in the shadow of Kovalev/Price highlights. As for baseball, I cheer for the Jays and never get frustrated at the absolutely re-donk-ulous and predictable fall playoff brackets... though I probably should.

Here is where I will draw some ire: I am a Ti-Cats fan. Yes: I said that. Growing up in Burlington, I went to Ti-Cat games with my dad and always found Ivor Wynne to be a much better place to watch a CFL game than the SkyDome1. Not to say I don't enjoy Argo games (I like when the team I'm cheering for wins a game) but I have love for my Oskee Wee Wee brethren, and our fearless founder; Pigskin Pete.

I enjoy most sports as both a participant and a spectator (although I've yet to master pairs figure skating) and have respect for any sport people choose to follow or play. I enjoy football (read: soccer) so much that I correct my friends whenever they call it soccer, which only leads to confusion and me eventually muttering, "never mind." The NFL is great, but the Patriots bandwagon doesn't have any seats left, so I watch whichever teams are playing.

I will stop here and conclude my mini-autobiographical first column. If you wish to know more about me, feel free to ask. If you need to know more, I'll be concerned and likely won't reply.

1. Yes I know it is now the Rogers Centre, but I grew up with the SkyDome, so I often ignore forget the fact that Ted has branded it into his lineage.
