There is a long and glorious tradition of sports fans celebrating the success of their teams through loud noises. Yelling, screaming, singing, chanting, clapping, stomping - these are all widely-accepted expressions of athletic support.

What about car horns? Well, sure, after particularly big victories, some particularly boisterous fans like to get in their cars, drive around and honk their horns while flying their team's flag out the window. That can get a little annoying, but most people would agree it's tolerable in small doses.

Then, you have Denver residents Jeri and Larry Priest, who celebrate each point scored by the Broncos by setting off a device they call "The Bronco Horn". It's made up of six car horns and a flashing orange light powered by a car battery. It sits in their front yard and when the Broncos score a touchdown, they blast The Bronco Horn six times. Then, they fire it off once more after the extra point. Field goal next possession? That's three sextuple-honks.

I think we can all agree that's pretty badass, especially when you consider that these Bronco superfans are 69 years old.  Unfortunately, the Rocky Mountain News reports that one of their neighbours is all "noise ordinance" this and "my wife is 14 weeks pregnant" that.

"What if six car horns were pointed at your house 50 feet away?" said the 38-year-old, who did not want his name used for fear of retaliation and is probably a barrel of laughs at parties.

After the Oct. 21 game when the Broncos scored 31 points, the neighbour filed a disorderly conduct complaint against Jeri Priest. Now, Denver's fiercest granny Bronco fan has a Nov. 26 court date.

To her credit, Priest is not ready to back down to pressure from the neighbourhood buzzkill. "We're almost 70 years old... But he picked the wrong old people to pick on."

Isn't that the catch phrase for the new Rambo movie? Anyway, the Broncos suck this season so the Hornmaster 3000 has been silent more often than in previous seasons. The way I see it, the whiny neighbour should be grateful the Priests aren't Nuggets fans.
